British Values
At La Petite we teach British Values as part of our everyday good practice, through:
Democracy:
- Children are listened to and encouraged to share their views and respect the views of others, and to communicate their feelings.
- Children are supported in, and given opportunity to make, decisions.
- Activities are provided that involve turn taking and working as part of a team.
Rule of Law:
- Children are taught to understand consequences and learn right from wrong, and that rules are there to protect us, and the reasons behind them.
- Golden rules are enforced by staff, children, and parents, as age appropriate.
Individual Liberty:
- Children are supported to develop a sense of pride in themselves and their achievements through praise and positive reinforcements.
- Staff provide activities to nurture and develop self-confidence and self-esteem.
- Children are encouraged to make their own decisions in a safe and supportive environment.
Mutual Respect:
- Staff demonstrate an ethos based on inclusive practice and tolerance where views, faiths, cultures and races are valued and embraced.
- Staff encourage role model and support children to share and respect others’ views.
